“Mankind, He has told you what is good and what the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.” -Micah 6:8 HCSB
It seems that with each passing year, the passage of moving to adulthood gets more difficult. The youth ministry at Pine Forest is designed to help students navigate these waters. We believe that God has called us into ministry with parents to help teens navigate this transition. In order to help parents walk with their youth, we have designed a rites of passage experience for you and your youth. We hope you will look at it in our parent resource section.
As we walk with your family through their teenager years, they will have the opportunity to grow in many different, challenging and fun ways. Everything that we do in our ministry is designed to fit into the three purposes that we have identified: friendship, discipleship, service to others.
While we believe the family is the backbone to the spiritual life of youth, we also believe it is important for you to be in community with other teenagers and adults who model the Christian life style. All of our youth have the opportunity to experience this community in a small group setting.
In our youth ministry we believe in doing life together! We love to grab coffee or ice cream with youth, watch them play ball, hear about their lives and even cry with them. As we experience this passage together, we have lots of activities throughout the year. Each summer we take a youth mission trip; our fall white-water rafting and the winter snow skiing trips have become favorites as well. During the school year we meet for breakfast and prayer each Tuesday morning in the youth wing. There are also days when we work at a local mission project such as the Soup Kitchen or Habitat for Humanity. No matter what we are doing, it is ultimately done to bring us closer to each other and especially to God.
We would love to join you in this passage and walk alongside you and your family as they journey from being a pre-teen to a young adult. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter and check back here often to keep up with all that is going on in our ministry.
