Serving Together

Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 3:8-9 |

Series:

During the past few weeks, we’ve been talking about the fact that we are ‘Better Together.’  Now we explore the topic, ‘Serving Together.’  God didn’t put you here on earth to live only for yourself! God didn’t put you here on earth just to take up space, or to simply have fun and die. God put you here to make the world a better place, and God has called you to be one of His servants. So how do you serve God? Only one way. By serving others in His Name. Whenever you use your time and gifts & talents, and your energy and your resources to help and assist someone else, this is what serving is all about.

The Bible calls this ministry. Now contrary to popular opinion, every Christian is called to be a minister or servant of God.  Moreover, God says to us, “I don’t want you to do this all by yourself. I don’t want you to minister alone. I want you to do it in community. I want you to do it with other believers.”

In Philippians 2:2, Paul writes to the Philippians and to us, and he says: “...make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose” (NLT). This is what we’re going to look at—how do we work together with one heart and with one purpose? Of course, someone may ask, “But why does God require this? Why can’t I just serve God on my own? Why do I have to have a group?” There are three good reasons why.
